The Fresh Start Alumni Association monthly alumni meeting for August will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 PM.

This month, in addition to celebrating birthdays, we are excited to have Victor G. speaking.

Everyone who has passed a clean and sober milestone in the last month are eligible to receive their chip by mail!

Please help spread the word about these online FSAA meetings. Despite our best efforts, many alumni are still unaware they are taking place. We need everyone’s help reaching out. Sending a quick message to a fellow alumni can help us all stay united. This can be difficult and lonely time for many. Connection helps us all stay clean and sober.

To get the Zoom app for your smart phone, tablet, or computer visit the Download Center on the Zoom website or search for the app called “Zoom Cloud Meetings” in the app store on your device.

The meeting info is the same every month. If you do not have it, please email recovery@fres...

Come Zoom with us this Tuesday, June 16 at 7:30 PM for this month’s Fresh Start Alumni Association monthly alumni meeting.

Last month we resumed the monthly alumni meeting online and it was a great success. We received a ton positive responses. It wasn’t the same as meeting in person but it was great to see and hear everyone once again.

We still don’t know when we be able to resume in-person meetings but progress is being made as the country, state, and county are beginning the process of reopening. Many local twelve-step meetings are resuming in a scaled back form. Attendance is required to be limited and attendees must be spaced apart. We feel like this isn’t a good option for FSAA gatherings where the purpose is to bring all of us together; not just a few. Until that is possible, we plan to continue meeting virtually.

This month we are going to focus on recovery birthdays again. Everyone who has passed a clean and sober milestone in the last month will get some tim...

Join us this Tuesday, May 19 at 7:30 PM for the return of the Fresh Start Alumni Association’s monthly alumni meeting, Zoom style!

It’s been nearly 3 months since we last held the monthly FSAA alumni meeting and, unfortunately, at this point, there’s no way to know when we’ll be able to be together again. It could be weeks or it could be months. But, eventually, we will! In the meantime we have the internet.

This Tuesday, we’re going to hold the meeting through Zoom. Obviously, It’s not going to be the same. There won’t be a raffle, there won’t be cake, and there won’t be hugs. But, we can still see each other’s faces, hear each other’s voices, and celebrate recovery — apart but together.

This month it’s going to be all about birthdays! There won’t be a featured speaker, instead we want to hear from all those celebrating recovery birthdays. Everyone who has passed a clean and sober milestone since the last alumni meeting in February will get some time to share their experience, strength,...

KeepCare is a new experimental, peer-led process group sponsored by the Fresh Start Alumni Association.

KeepCare is a continuing aftercare program for addicts and alcoholics with longer-term sobriety and clean time. Alcohol and drug rehabilitation center aftercare programs are typically for patients in their first year of sustained recovery. KeepCare has no limit on length in recovery.

While 12-step programs provide support for addicts and alcoholics in perpetuity, the format of their meetings tend to discourage open conversations, or "crosstalk", and the general solicitation and offering of advice. This is by design and not a flaw of 12-step programs. KeepCare is not intended to be an alternative to 12-step programs, but instead a supplemental group.

We believe that many addicts and alcoholics with more than a year in recovery may benefit from an aftercare-like process group. Life may get better in recovery but it will never be easy. There will always...
